Classic Yachting Solutions was founded by Rob Robertson, a local attorney and long time mariner. For the past five years, Captain Rob has enjoyed the pleasure of cruising up and down the entire eastern seaboard on his 1939 Elco Cruiser. “Frolic” is a mahogany hulled forty-four foot motor yacht to which he has spent much time and energy refurbishing over the years. Built in the 1930’s in New Jersey, she hails from the classic age of American yachting. The yacht can often be seen out on the Charleston harbor in the evenings transporting those aboard to a different time. An era not based on sleek design and performance, but on beauty and elegance.

Today, in the fast paced world around us, we often forget that the joy is in the journey or the experience not the destination. Classic Yachting Solutions was born out of this concept. Slow down and enjoy the waters around you and work of art you are navigating. However, not everyone has the energy and the know-how to own an old wooden boat. And even those who do sometimes lose their zest for the project and its overwhelming upkeep.
CYS is proud to renew the traditional yachting experience of old by connecting clients with some of the finest boat builders in New England who still build boats the way the were made for centuries...one at a time, by hand. One notable exception is that most of these boats are constructed with fiberglass hulls to protect their waterlines from corroding as quickly as wood. Not to worry, teak and mahogany still abound on decks, trim, furnishings, and interiors, but the maintenance hassle is diminished. A dwindling breed of family boat builders are creating traditional yachts of the finest quality while integrating all the benefits of modern technology and design. CYS wants to promote their industry by supporting these boats in the Southeast. Whether you are interested in long range cruising or sipping cocktails at the dock, Classic Yachting Solutions works with the builder to create, commission, and service your dream boat.
